Healthy meals at affordable prices is still a nightmare for the busy and working professionals. Meal’d is here to solve this by allowing the customers to subscribe meals and get it delivered at office or home. Operating on a cloud kitchen model, Meal’d is ready to spread this food culture to other cities as well.

 

Give a brief info about your startup?

MEAL’D is an online meal delivery platform for working professionals. Customers can order/subscribe daily/weekly/monthly meals according to their choice. We have a meal scheduling mechanism which is operated with a help of digital food wallet. We also operate in B2B segment, where companies can map their employees to the system and top up their food wallets for ordering meal

 

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

Getting good food on daily basis at affordable price is always a challenge everywhere, we at MEAL’D enable and empower working professionals and corporates to have an amazing meals at their workplace and help them to control their food expenses with our digital food wallet.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

I was a business consultant with more than 10 year’s experience in sales and marketing. I was heading Smmart Training and Consultancy in Kerala and doing freelancing MSME consulting across Kerala in different sectors.

 

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

At present we are in Kochi & Calicut. We are working on scaling up to Bangalore & Chennai soon

 

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

It is all about creating value to the stakeholders of the business in all means on daily basis.

 

 

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

We don’t have any competition as of now in Kerala. Our target segment is corporates and working professionals. We operate on cloud kitchen concept which is highly scalable to any market in India and abroad.

 

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

It is all about commitment and dedication to the cause which we work for. We are here to create the good and healthy food culture to live a maximized life.

 

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you’re looking to raise?

We are completely bootstrapped and now in the process of raising funds for growth and scaling up. We already have a running model which is generating revenue on daily basis.

 

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

People believe we take ad-hoc orders and deliver food anytime. We don’t do it, we take pre booked meals only, like weekly subscriptions for lunch and dinner

 

What gets you excited about this company?

We are building a great culture and revolution in food sector. We focus on local food which is healthy and unadulterated in sustainable eco-friendly packaging.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

We are 24*7 in business. We are building a great team with  great culture which will be the next big thing in food sector from Kerala.

 

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?
We are a team of 3 people. Myself Lajesh Kolath and my partners Shameela Nafih and Abdul Gaffoor. All are professionals with more than 10+ years domain expertise in their respective sectors. We all know each other from through professional networks.
